Colorado Talking Book Library
For people who cannot read standard print, The Colorado Talking Book Library provides free service audio, Braille and large-print books and magazines to keep them connected to reading, stories and adventure.  Annually CTBL serves more than 7,000 people,  http://www.myctbl.org. CTBL serves the blind vision impaired and print disabled. Many people do not realize that "print disability" includes those with MS, Parkinson's, stroke patients, arthritis, chemo, dialysis and surgical patients. This is a fully bilingual service. 

Weatherization
The Arapahoe County Weatherization Division installs free energy conservation measures and energy-efficient appliances in low-income households in Adams County and Arapahoe County. The program helps eligible residents to conserve energy and save money on heating and cooling bills, while improving the comfort of their homes year-round. 2016 marked the 40th anniversary of the National Weatherization Assistance Program.

  • Furnace and water heater safety test
  • Furnace replacement, if eligible
  • Insulation in attics, walls and crawl spaces
  • Storm Windows, if eligible
  • Sealing air leaks
  • LED light bulbs
 
Eligibility Information- Traditional Weatherization
We can weatherize owner-occupied homes and rentals, including single-family houses, mobile homes and multi-family units up to a four-plex. A home can only receive weatherization services once. All services and materials are provided at no cost to eligible households, and all employees and subcontractors must pass a background check.

Energy Efficiency Home Improvements

For a limited time, special grant funding is available to provide free Energy Efficiency Home Improvements to owner-occupied households (no renters) in Arapahoe County, excluding Aurora households with household incomes at or below 80 percent of adjusted median income (see eligibility requirements for details).

Colorado Covering Kids and Families (CKF) is a statewide project that works to ensure all children and families eligible for Medicaid and Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+) are enrolled. Click here to learn more about CKF.
Fast Fact: 89,246 children in Colorado are eligible but not enrolled in Medicaid or CHP+ according to data from 2011.

Need Transportation?  

If you need or someone you know needs transportation to a place you may use the below:

1.         Via Mobility – This company will take you for a minimal charge from Deer Trail to Watkins radius.  On Tuesdays they go to Aurora for an outing.  On Fridays   they go to Bennett Kingsoopers  - 303.447.2848 or www.viacolorado.org
2.       If you have Medicaid – Use Total Transit – 855-264-6368.  They will transport you over county lines for free to and from Medical Appointments.  
a.       They will verify your Medicaid number and see if you have a medical certificate of transportation.  If you do not they will ask you to have a licensed provider fill out a MCTS form on Medicaid.co.com and fax it back to them.  It takes 48 hours to schedule a pick up.  
3.       If you need help with transportation another option is http://drmac-co.org/  DRMAC.  They are a referral agency that can help you arrange transportation.  303.243.3113
